PREMIUM and QUALITY parking along the Autobahn

With a new open system for “Autohof” truck stops, VEDA and industrial safety experts are committed to better security, systematic monitoring and control of parking facilities and to better comfort for truck drivers and their cargo. Access control and video monitoring are the main focus of the new PREMIUM Parkings along the motorway. Any Autohof as well as any operator of truck parking areas may join this system. Their common goal is a network of powerful partners and protection against an increasing crime and cargo theft rate.

Participation
Any truck parking area that meets our criteria, and particularly “Autohof” truck stops, may join our Premium Parking system.
Certification
The „PREMIUM PARKING“ or „QUALITY PARKING“ certificates will be issued by the German truck stop trade association (“Vereinigung Deutscher Autohöfe”, VEDA).
Year after year we are faced with cargo thefts worth millions of Euros. Mostly during the night, more and more trucks are being robbed. One out of every six truck drivers has already fallen victim of at least one cargo theft, and the numbers are still increasing.

The VEDA approach

The VEDA certificate is focused on security by deterrence and information. Comprehensive video monitoring allowing for a complete event tracking , clearly defined entry and departure, tracked entry and departure times and many more characteristics distinguish a PREMIUM Parking with a VEDA certificate. Nobody can enter the truck parking area without being recorded on video. The driver will receive maximum comfort, most truck parkings will offer Wi-Fi. High security Parkings existing in Germany have proofed a failure for various reasons.“
Which solutions will be offered?

„We have worked hard on these issues and created an approach that will not cover everything, but a lot more than any other approach. We do not offer security parking areas. What we offer is deterrence and helpful information, as research shows that the crime rate will decrease significantly when there is intensive video monitoring in place. This is exactly what we do. We record what is happening in the truck parking area. Access routes and peripheral areas will be covered by our monitoring systems. If needed, we shall make these records available to the prosecution authorities. Furthermore, our Premium Parking areas are so much more comfortable.“

Where will certified parkings emerge?

By the end of 2022, a minimum of 30 Autohof truck stops will be certified. This is an open system that every Autohof in Germany may join. We explicitly do not require VEDA membership. We aim at offering a certified truck stop “string of pearls” along all major routes.
